croeso i flwyddyn 3

We hope you all have had a lovely summer and we would like to welcome your son/ daughter into year 3. We are sure that he/ she will have an enjoyable year ahead. We would like to take this opportunity to explain some important information.

Our topic this half term is DISASTER ZONE.

This topic has a geography focus and the children will be learning about the causes and impact of natural diasters involving water, flooding and erosion and the environmental factors which cause them. During this topic the children will write reports using factual data. In addition children will develop skills to write leaflets and present findings from tests using scientific and geographical language.

Reading
Your child has been given a reading book and a reading record. Your child will be reading with the teacher every week, One week individually and the other week as part of a guided group reading session. Please could you encourage your child to bring their reading record and their book on their reading day. We encourage each pupil to read at home for at least 15 minutes. Please update your child's reading record weekly and then they will be able to change their book.

PE

Your child's PE day is as follows;

Mrs Gardiner: Indoor- Monday
                    Outdoor- Wednesday

Miss Woolls: Indoor- Friday
                   Outdoor- Wednesday

During indoor PE, children should wear black or navy shorts with a t-shirt (house colours) or leotard. Shoes should only be worn if your child has medical condition ie Verruca and a letter is needed to let us know.

During outside PE, children should wear shorts/ tracksuit bottoms and a house
t-shirt.

Long hair should be tied back and earrings should be taken out or not worn on the day of PE.

Maths
as explained to parents in the transition meeting at the end of the summer term, all children in the Juniors are taught maths in classes that are in line with their ability. This is done to provide each child with appropriate level of support and challenge.

A quick reminder that children are not allowed in the cloakrooms before 9am.

Many thanks for your support as we look forward to a very enjoyable and successful year ahead.

Country Dancing at Summer Fete

Dear Parent

Thank you for allowing your child to dance at the School Fete this Saturday (29th June). Please could the children come to the Fete dressed in their costumes with white socks/white blouse/black shoes. If they want to change after the performance they can use the toilets in the main hall.

We will meet in the main hall at 11.15am ready to dance at 11.30am.

If the weather is nice and the PA system is sorted, we will be performing outside in the Junior yard.

Any questions please contact me on 07900 918477.

Many thanks

Mrs Abel
