English and Maths and Science over the past week

We looked at 3 different soils clay, compost and peat to see which would allow water to drain through the soil the quickest.

We needed to measure carefully.

We work together to time and measure.

We carefully measured out the same amount of soil to check that the test is fair.

In maths, we have been learning the names of, and looking at the properties of 3d shapes.

How many faces, vertices (corners) and edges does a cylinder have?

The answer is 3 faces, 1 curved, 2 flat, 2 edges and no vertices.

We have been working really hard on our descriptive writing. Our final stories will go towards the Eisteddfod writing competition.

When we extend our sentences with adverbs (slowly, quietly etc) our descriptions improve greatly.

We always share our best writing so that we can all improve together.

Year 3 Girls Football Club

Every Wednesday lunchtime Mr. Burgess takes a football club for year 3 girls. The turn out is always very high. Here we can see the girls enjoying a game at the end of the session. All the year 3 girls are welcome to take part, and we are really proud of the way that the girls have supported this club since September. Well done girls.

Graphic Modelling

In ICT this half term we are learning about graphic modelling packages. We now know how to cut (ctrl C), paste (ctrl v), change fonts, tab words across the page, insert clip art and insert pictures from the web.
We are using our skills to create a presentation about the Celts, when they lived, where they lived, what they lived in, how they cooked, what they wore etc.

We work in pairs in the ICT suite with pour talking partners.
